Route "Eastern Sakar and Dolna Tundzha"

Route description:

The route is suitable for off-road vehicles combined with pedestrian crossings.

After the village of Ustrem begins an ascent to the high part of Sakar along the road to the village of Planinovo.

After the village of Planinovo the route continues with a steep climbing through a pine forest to the ridge of the mountain and after two kilometers you will reach to the road fork for the village Dervishka Mogila and the road to Vishegrad peak.

From the village of Dervishka Mogila, you have to go to the direct asphalt road to the village of Studena (5 km). Before the village of Studena, to the left of the road are located holy spring and chapel "Zhivopriemniy iztochnik".

The next point of the route is the neighboring village Radovets.

Route 4 from the village of Radovets goes east to the Tundja river, along the old road to Lesovo mine, suitable only for off-road vehicles. It passes near a dam lake at the eastern end of the village, follows a descent into the nearby gully and after that climbing a hill to Kapaklia locality, where are situated remnants of dolmens. After descending on the hill, the end of the ridge reaches to granite cairn, where are revealed the majestic and beautiful panorama of the Dolnotundzhanskiya defile. You can reach to Tundzha River in two ways. If you want to visit the rock churches in the villages of Mihalich and Matochina, the fortress Bukelon, the salt water spring Solenata voda and the wild nature of the Fishera river, you should go through village of Radovets.

Route 4 ends in Topolovgrad town (by road in the village of Radovets).
